Swing Drill - Getting Club up on Plane

One of Pat's biggest tendencies right now is for him to take the club too far inside and swing too flat overall. When he does this, he struggles to stay behind the ball and not come too far from the inside. To simplify his swing plane, we often use the "Shaft Plane Drill", but sometimes you have to improvise when conditions are less than ideal. In this short clip of Pat performing this drill, we used a bag stand and a clubshaft on the ground because we were having to hit off of artificial turf. The bag stand helps him feel how the club needs to work more up on the backswing than around and keeps him from getting his shoulders too flat during the takeaway, another tendency of his. The shaft on the ground is there for a visual guide for him to see how he needs to work the club back properly from the ball as he has a tendency to take it far to the outside during the takeaway, exacerbating his tendency to swing flat.
